"Imagine"

When I think of the "Clash of Civilizations", I think of the song "Imagine" by John Lennon.  If we could all keep an open mind and remember that we are all human and that we are all one then the world would be a much better place.  No matter where we come from or what our backgrounds are, we should be emphathetic and compassionate toward one another, as we are all in this world together.  We all experience the same things:  heart-ache, sorrow, loss, hope, laughter and the search for happiness and our meaning on earth.

"Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world"

John Lennon's song "Imagine" is inspiring because he, like many others, imagines a world where there is no countries, where there is no "us vs them". No war, no discrimination, and no hatred.  Who are we to judge others when we have not walked a day in their shoes?

John lennon imagines the world as one.  He imagines a place where there no possessions to consume us or to give us status.  He imagines a place where there is no need for greed (America) or hunger (Sub-Saharan Africa).  He imagines a place where all people share all of the world.

I share this vision with John Lennon as a prospect for moving beyond the "Clash of Cultures".  It is so hard to imagine, but if you really try, you can.  And if everyone would join us, then "...the world will live as one".

nice use of the song to explain your point. I agree with you that the only way to move beyond the clash of civilizations is to think of the world as "one" and share the world together.

    Good job!

I also share yours and John Lenon's imagination for a world that has a unity in diversity and where wars are banished to solve conflicts and impose imperialism.
